Kameleon Rose Multi-Way Travel Clothing – Review & Giveaway

Kameleon Rose 5-Way Cardigan

I’m a hopeless packer. You’d think after all these years of hauling luggage across the globe I’d have it down to a fine art. But no. Each time we go on a trip the packing process takes hours, beginning with everything but the kitchen sink, and finally ending with just the essentials. Plus a few ‘just-in-cases’ and a couple of ‘well-you-never-knows’.

Then we went to Kenya.

At first I revelled in all the perks that our business class tickets would bring, not least of which was a heap of extra baggage allowance. I immediately began planning a list of all the souvenirs I wanted to get my hands on. Then Hubbie pointed out that our internal flights to the lodges and bush camps where we’d be staying would in fact be taken in tiny little planes, with a maximum luggage quota of just 15 kg per person. Including hand baggage. Our camera gear alone took care of most of that.

Packing for travels to Kenya
This is our pre-Kenya trip packing…mine is at the top, Hubbie’s at the bottom!

I sadly put back most of my kaftans, jumpers and sandals but was still left with a dilemma. It was either wear the same clothes for the entire trip, or pay a hefty amount for extra kgs. So I made do with a fleece, shirt, trousers and a sarong. Which you’ll notice in the photos if you’ve read any of our Kenya posts. It was a fabulous trip, but I felt under-dressed the whole time. It was difficult to dress stylishly and comfortably on the limited contents of my suitcase.

Roll forwards a year and I think I’ve found a solution to the clothes packing dilemma. It’s called Kameleon Rose, an innovative company offering garments designed by travellers for travellers.

Introducing Kameleon Rose

Kameleon Rose is all about practical yet fashionable pieces, all of which are ethically produced in Madagascar and Mauritius. But that’s not all. Each item of clothing can be styled in several different ways, meaning that the comfy dress you wore whilst slouching in your plane seat can also be taken on a glamorous night out on the town. How cool is that?

Kameleon Rose has several different clothing items, including the Ultimate Travel Dress (which can be worn 20 different ways), the Ultimate Travel Pant (worn 10 different ways), and a 5 Way Cardigan (the clue’s in the name). They even have a 4 Way Bag which turns into a sun hat! Together the 6 pieces of Kameleon Rose clothing creates a brilliant capsule wardrobe of 100 outfits, perfect for travellers who want to cut down on their luggage without compromising on style.

The 5 Way Cardigan

Kameleon Rose kindly sent me a 5 Way Cardigan to try out, and I’ve been putting it through its paces this month. This convertible cardigan transforms in a sweater, a hoodie, a waterfall cardigan and a hooded top. It did take me a little while to get my head around how to put together the styles, working out which buttons fastened where, but a quick look at their online styling guide soon had me sorted.

The fabric of all the Kameleon Rose clothing is non-creasing and quick drying, which is great news for travellers. No more hanging up dresses in the bathroom in the deluded hope that the shower steam will get rid of those packing creases. The only slight negative is that it currently only comes in black or grey, which makes it easy to match with other items of clothing, but a dash of colour would be good too.

Despite all the fancy design, I think my favourite feature of the cardigan is the material. It’s super snuggly, and without doubt the most comfortable top I own! In fact I’ve been wearing it nearly every day this month…around the house, out to town and even when we’ve been out for dinner in the evenings.

The Kameleon Rose is definitely my new favourite wardrobe addition, and I can’t wait to try it out when we head back to Kenya in the new year.

I would wear it when traveling to the States to visit my family. I try to keep my luggage as empty as possible so that I can bring things of mine back.

Anywhere. As soon as it can be used and wear as maxi skirt, I can use it 7 days in a week during summer and autumn time. On holiday, when visiting friends, shopping or going to gallery and museum 🙂

Can I say everywhere? So comfy. I’d be wearing it for my eventual trip to Canada, but until then, I’d wrap up in it when walking my little dog!

I must say that I am a little unsure about some of the styles suiting my body shape, but hey ho I am on holiday so anything goes. Wonderful that someone has had this idea. Thanks for the chance.

I’d wear it everywhere on my Central America trip, coming up soon. I need to pack light and cover all temperatures while looking casual and smart. Tricky! But this is perfect!

On a trip to my daughter in France – that way I could save my suitcase space and pack it with treats for my gorgeous grandchildren on the way out and goodies from the local market on the way home!
