An island bathed in sunshine and blessed with crystal-clear waters, Cyprus offers a diverse range of stunning beaches, coves and coastlines to suit every taste. Whether you’re seeking a secluded shore, a bustling resort or a family-friendly beachfront, Cyprus has it all. We love Cyprus because there’s so much to do here, and when we just want to chill, the views provide the perfect backdrop.
In this article, we’ll explore six of the most captivating beaches that this Mediterranean gem has to offer.
Lara Bay
Nestled on the Akamas Peninsula, Lara Bay is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a secluded escape. We think this is one of the prettiest beaches on the island!
Renowned for its pristine sandy beach and calm, turquoise waters, Lara Bay is also a protected area, serving as a nesting site for endangered green sea turtles. You can witness these magnificent creatures laying their eggs and watch their hatchlings make their way to the sea – so cute! While swimming is restricted in certain areas to protect the turtles, there are designated swimming zones where you can enjoy the refreshing waters.
Konnos Bay
Located in the Protaras region, Konnos Bay is a picturesque cove surrounded by lush greenery. The beach has soft, golden sand and blue waters that are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and diving. We love coming here for a picnic and a paddle, especially in the late afternoon when the light it just right.
The secluded setting and stunning views make Konnos Bay an ideal spot for relaxation and tranquillity. There are also several tavernas and cafes nearby where you can enjoy delicious Cypriot cuisine and soak up the atmosphere.
Pomos Beach
Pomos Beach, situated on the western coast of Cyprus, offers a more rustic and laid-back experience. We went there to escape the summer crowds and found it super chilled.
The beach is characterised by its pebbly shore and dramatic cliffs, creating a unique and scenic landscape. The waters are generally calm and ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
Fig Tree Bay
Fig Tree Bay, located in Protaras, is one of the most popular beaches in Cyprus, renowned for its golden sands and lively atmosphere.
The beach is ideal for families with children embarking on a Cyprus holiday, as the shallow waters are safe for swimming and there are plenty of amenities nearby, including sunbeds, umbrellas and water sports activities. The iconic fig tree, which gives the beach its name, provides a shaded spot for relaxation.
Coral Bay
Coral Bay in the coastal city of Paphos is a bustling resort with a beautiful sandy beach and vibrant nightlife. It’s the ideal spot if you want a certain buzz during your visit.
The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing and water sports, with a wide range of activities available, including jet skiing, parasailing and boat trips. The resort also offers a variety of restaurants, bars and shops, making it a great destination for those seeking a lively and exciting holiday.
Governor’s Beach
Governor’s Beach, located near Limassol, is a secluded cove with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. You’ll want to take your camera for this one. It reminded us of many of the beaches you come across when island hopping in Greece, with their rocky white cliffs and sparkling ocean.
The beach boasts a pretty pebbly shore and azure waters, making it an ideal spot for people who want to spend afternoons frolicking in the sea. The beach is less crowded than some of the other popular beaches in Cyprus, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
